Christmas Gift Exchange Sample Letter

Dear Aggie,

You are my East Tennessee A&M Club Christmas gift exchange recipient. I hope you enjoy the Aggie gift I have selected and sent to you.

Just a little about me. I have been the President of the East Tennessee A&M Club for nearly three years now and it has been a blast getting to know all the Aggies in the area. I graduate Texas A&M in August 1988 with a degree in Computer Science and have worked in high performance computing (HPC) my entire career including about six years at the Texas A&M Supercomputer Center which had a high performance computer in the glass palace in the lobby area of the old Zachary Engineering Building in 1989 through 1996. That building has since been replaced with the new Zachary Engineering Building. Interestingly enough when one of my colleagues retired from working at Texas A&M at the high performance research computing
group (name changed) at Texas A&M they made a slide deck of some of the history with my photo when I was in my twenties at https://hprc.tamu.edu/about/history/. See the link at the bottom that says A Commemorative Look: 20 Years Empowering Research & Discovery.

My dad was an Aggie and went to Texas A&M and graduated in 1956 with a degree in Mathematics and eventually went into computers. I was raised an Aggie and that was the only place I wanted to go and the only place I applied for to go to college. I was in the top 10% of my class and a legacy which were two things that was considered when I applied. I really enjoyed my time at Texas A&M and felt I received a really good education that set me up for my career in HPC. I have donated to the Association of Former Students for 19 years. I moved to Oak Ridge in 2006 and have been living in the Knoxville area since 2013. I enjoy East Tennessee and it has been great participating in the Club and now as President to give back a little.

Gig ‘Em
